Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis sativa L. plant. To date, nearly 500 compounds have been discovered in cannabis, 66 are cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are lipid signalling molecules that engage and act on the mammalian body's endocannabinoid system (ECS).
There are three types of cannabinoids:
